The opinion that we are given the reliability of a site should not be taken as absolute truth for sure, but in many cases can be useful.
Hitfreeware.blogspot.com has already reported on a program very similar to this, the latter is based on the opinions of its users, while McAfee Site Advisor is based on the work of one of the most famous companies in the field of virus protection (each of the two methods has advantages and disadvantages). Nothing prevents, however, to use both.
