7-Zip is a file compressor completely free. That supports ZIP, CAB, RAR, GZIP, BZIP2 and TAR, is able to ensure the highest possible level of compression (for ZIP files is 2-10% higher than that possible with the use PKZip or WinZip).The program also offers a proprietary format (called 7Z) that, in addition to high level of compression, allows to create self-extracting files.
7-Zip is well integrated with the Windows interface and provides a powerful version based on the command line.
