K9 is an anti-spam software that won us over with its ease of installation and ease of use. The program integrates with any client for e-mail management (such as Outlook Express, Outlook, Eudora, Netscape Messenger, Pegasus mail,... Foxmail) and supports the POP3 protocol.
Its main feature is undoubtedly the light: the whole software consists of a single executable file about 60 KB (K9 does not even require installation!) And occupies the RAM for only about 1.6 MB.
K9 makes use of statistical algorithms "smart" for the analysis and automatic recognition of e-mail spam. In this way you can avoid the levy on the web of rules and additional information (as do, however, many other similar software...).
K9 is "self-instruction" even on e-mails considered as spam by the user.
The results that will be initially K9 will be rather modest, and only after receiving a few dozen marked as spam and unwanted email, is the most to gain from K9.
The program offers a convenient user interface that allows you to view all e-mails that have been analyzed. It should be noted that K9 does not delete individual e-mail but the brand by adding, for example, the subject of the message the phrase [Spam]. By creating a special rule, using your favorite email client, you can decide what to do e-mail spam as indicated by K9 (for example, you can move them to a folder or delete them completely ad hoc).
How to use K9 with your mail client:
To ensure that the e-mails taken from a POP3 mail server your ISP will be analyzed by K9, you must sign in the window to change the settings of your email account within the client's preferred e-mail.
Now change the address of your POP3 server (popmail.libero.it) in 127.0.0.1
9999 replaced the port number (usually 110).
In the User name field of your mail account specified below, the address of your mail server, the POP3 port number, and your username, separated by a slash (/). For example, suppose you have the account mionome@libero.it, type in the username field of your email client as follows:
popmail.libero.it/110/mionomeK9 1.03
