QuickTime Alternative, playing QuickTime content

As for Real Alternative, you can view QuickTime movies without the same installed. It also in K-Lite Codec Pack.

QuickTime Alternative

FFDShow, Video codec

It a pack of filters and codecs open source useful for viewing multimedia content such as divx, xvid, mkv, h.264, AC3, etc.. It also very free exploited by applications such as BD Rebuilder, RipBot, etc.., Require the presence there to work.

MKV (Matroska Pack and Haali Splitter)

The MKV is not a format but a container (like avi). The interior can accommodate many different codecs such as Xvid, Divx, H264, AAC, etc..

For viewing movies. Mkv, which in recent times seem to spread more and more (and increasingly will spread, given the increasing number of HD video at 720p or 1080p high definition TV and Blu-Ray) is need the Matroska Pack, or a video player that supports this format natively or container.

MKV

x.264 (AVC/H.264), Video codec streams

H.264/AVC is the video compression codec (paid) last generation, the one with which you perform best (meaning both in terms of compression of the final quality). Is also becoming the compression format of high definition (HD), intended as TV and Blu-Ray.

Unfortunately, the official version of the codec is shareware (already used in a variety of recoding programs, including Nero), but there is a free version (in fact, open source also) called x.264, which can be used for encoding / decoding. In some open source video editing programs such as Avidemux, this codec is already integrated and can be used like any other codec (as a video created with it is currently not compatible with divx players table), is also already integrated in some media players like VLC or more.

Xvid, encoding for decoding movie times

The codec open source can compete with the Divx Pro With it you can create high quality video. The guide to convert DVD to Divx, this is a special section for a generic configuration of the Xvid codec.

Xvid

Divx, encoding for decoding

And codec most famous of all, what has changed the history of broadcasting video online.La basic version is free, the fee (Pro version) adds the ability to better encoding (for those who want to create with DivX quality higher than the standard version). The latest version adds full support in coding and display of the HDTV standard.

Wm Recorder, Record audio and video from your computer

Fails to register any type of video and audio on the PC steps (video, music, news feeds, videos with multiple windows or password protected), subject to read through WMP (Media Player or other user-specified). It is not particularly complex to use, except for video (usually sites that require subscription) password-protected, in which case you need some more action.

Cam Studio is more general and far more immediate, WM Recorder can record while certain things that otherwise would be impossible, at the cost of increased learning time.

BB FlashBack Express, capture video and record video from desktop computers

It's a good program to capture video in Windows, which uses a proprietary driver to better succeed in its intent, through which you can also register with the Aero interface of Vista. To coincide with the video, you can also record sounds.
And possible to save the recorded video in AVI and FLV, but there are paid versions of BB FlashBack, which allow you to save in other formats.
Unfortunately this is where the limits of BB FlashBack Express in this free version is very good if you just record a video from the PC and save it to avi or flv, but becomes useless if you want something more, for example, deal separately with the audio video (as dictating an audio commentary aside), or add images or annotations, or modify in any way recorded video (in addition of course to save in different formats to those already mentioned), and more.
If we like the free version, we are obliged to register (free) within 30 days.
Overall BB FlashBack Express is a program to capture video very interesting, however, that sin is only partly free. For this reason, as far as possible I tend to favor programs really free, I can not put it on the page real video capture.

ZD soft screen recorder, powerful application for recording/sharing

Can record the content of everything that passes through the screen of your computer, using proprietary drivers. Uses a proprietary compression algorithm that allows you to save the video file very small and this file can be in exe format, so you can run on any computer without the need for ZD Soft Screen Recorder or some other program or codec is installed.
Usually can also record streaming content from different sites, provided the pass for our desktop, but also often succeeds where other similar programs (such as Cam Studio) fail.
Remains a good program, although unfortunately no longer free.

ZD soft screen recorder

Taksi, for interactive 3D applications

It's a good open source program that lets you record video games and other 3D applications. It can save these videos in any format supported by the system (which have the codec), such as DivX, XviD, etc.. It works easily, using the keyboard: just click the buttons (or use the default program) and you can now record, stop recording, make screenshots, etc.
Immediate and effective (if there are video screens, or for interactive 3D applications, because it works only with them).

TipCam

Like Debut CamStudio and even TipCam is a good program to capture video windows, however, aimed more at creating video tutorials (perhaps for purposes of guides / educational, etc..), Not the actual video capture (for streaming from sites such as, for instance).
Audio can be added later. To save directly on the Internet are asked for ID and password for the server, but their use is not necessary if we are to save the video on the PC (TipCam works the same).
Good program, simple and light, although my preference is still to Debut. Among the more interesting notes, that is able to record directly into the FLV format, so you have video clips ready for the web (such as YouTube, to understand).

TipCam

Cam Studio, Programs to capture video windows

It's a program very simple, yet highly efficient, allowing you to save a file (.avi for example) everything that happens inside the computer, either using the full desktop area setting to our liking (which will be transformed into a kind of video recording area).
It can be used to record streaming video that are shown in the computer, and that otherwise would be lost in some cases (depending on the programs used for viewing, etc..), or to record real guides (for example when you want to show the using a program).
And immediate and very simple to use.

Debut, Programs to capture video windows avi wmv

Really great program to capture video created by NCH Software (the house that develops excellent WavePad Sound Editor).
In just 400 kb (!) Debut is able to record the video screen of your computer, then adding the ability to insert an audio commentary. Thus become very useful if you want to create guides and video tutorials.
You can choose the video codec (avi, wmv, etc..), As well as the settings of the codec itself, fully configurable. It can also record from video sources connected to the computer or a webcam.
The video can be configured in the format and size (640x480, etc.). All functions can be done by Debut keyboard (hotkeys) via user-configurable combinations.

Blu-Ray & DVD Decrypter, effective decrypt backup tool

It's a program to extract the Blu-Ray (and DVDs) on your hard drive, removing the protections that may be present.
It also allows you to emulate a Blu-Ray, so you can mount an ISO image as if the Blu-Ray disc was physically present (a bit as programs to mount images of CD and DVD).
Operation is simple, and how the program would not be bad, except that a number of Blu-Ray fails and asks for the key extraction (key) if you can not find (for example in some forums ) there's no way to succeed.
For this reason, I feel better in this regard, a program like DVD Fab HD Decrypter. And if in future Blu-Ray & DVD Decrypter will continue with development and improvements will be decided, then the court also will improve proportionally.

Clown BD, Extract video audio tracks

Extract the main video track (the movie) and audio tracks from a Blu-Ray, including subtitles: you can then store them in an ISO image in a folder writable Blu-Ray, or in a ts/m2ts file.
To function successfully, that AnyDVD is active on our system.
Since BD Clown does conversion, the quality will be identical to the original video.
Operation is very simple (maybe we can be a bit confused at first), because it is just select the video and audio tracks we want to keep and click 'Next'.
As for similar programs, BD Rebuilder has a few features that correspond to BD Clown, plus many more (it can also reduce the size of Blu-Ray, etc...)
The advantage of BD is that Clown is quite immediate, since there is virtually no knowledge to use it. It remains clear that, once extracted from Blu-Ray traces we need (for example, in case you have a Blu-Ray TV series, from which we extract only a few episodes), can then be used in other programs (perhaps convert divx or more).

Clown BD

Cyberlink BD (Blu-Ray) Advisor diagnostic tool

It a free program of the Cyberlink (PowerDVD also develops the house) that lets you determine if your computer is compatible with Blu-Ray.
Once installed, Cyberlink BD Advisor, a deep analysis of your PC (processor, video card, RAM, hard drives, optical drives, etc..) And finally tell us whether our system is compatible with Blu-Ray and what possibly be done to make Compatible.
Is not a program that is vital, because if you have modern hardware (and powerful enough) the only thing you need is a BD player (Blu-Ray), and even suggest anything particularly innovative.
However, can be of help to those who know little about computers, and has no idea of the level of performance of your machine (for example, who owns a laptop), in which case, the suggestions of CyberLink BD Advisor can draw interesting conclusions.

AVCHDCoder, convert especially in MKV format to Blu-Ray

It's a program that closely resembles RipBot 264: enables you to convert various types of video (especially in MKV format) directly to Blu-Ray.
AVCHDCoder is largely automated, while other similar programs (think for example to HDConvertX) have great potential configuration, especially in the final quality, AVCHDCoder chooses the opposite route, namely the ease to use. There were only three preset profiles for (x264), and the program will make all the choices, such as whether to convert or add borders to a video blacks: will be done only if necessary (and similarly will be scaled to video resolution, if the program deems necessary).
You can also add subtitles in .srt or .sup (no matter if integrated in the video, or from an external file).
As the program is very good and recommended for those who want to convert some videos on Blu-Ray without being too much to do experiments (the council even considering the package to download, over 100MB, is not particularly light).

BadCopyPro, recover data from damaged

Almost the same level of CD/DVD Diagnostic, this allows you to save situations apparently difficult. With a little patience, it is often possible to salvage. Costs about $ 40, a little less of a competitor.
If data recovery from DVD, however, takes many hours in the most desperate cases even whole days, it is good to know, because if it were expected to recover much ruined a DVD in minutes (or a couple of hours ), you would be absolutely disappointed. It is not the fault of BadCopyPro But data recovery from DVD (unlike the CD, where inevitably there are less data and everything is faster), it takes much, much patience.

CD/DVD Diagnostic, Recovering data from damaged CDs and DVDs

If you sometimes have a problem with a CD or DVD that you can not read, this is the program for you (yes, you could blame you for having wanted to save the quality of the recorder and CD you bought poor quality, but the lesson than you will in the future). With the right time, unable to recall many situations that seem hopeless. Fails in the impossible, but saved by several difficult situations.

CD Recovery Toolbox free, Recover damaged CDs and DVDs

It's a very good program for data recovery from CD, DVD and Blu-Ray: I consider the best of the free ones.
Can work with physically damaged disks (for example due to scratching or accidental contact with liquid, etc..), The operating system even rfiuta accept: CD Recovery Toolbox scans, and finally seek to recover all recovery.
Note: for the avoidance of doubt, that in case of discs (especially DVD) physically damaged, the scanning process and recovery can last many hours (as in all such programs, anyway).
Simple and effective.

CD Recovery Toolbox free

CDCheck, detection & recovery of damaged files

It's a program focused primarily on the identification of errors on a CD (or DVD), but also allows you to do some data recovery.
The main feature of CDCheck is to make a comparison between the data and the data written to hard disk, even if the audio CD (in this case by referring to the tracks WAV Hard Disk): in this case will be able to whether the burning took place in an absolutely identical to the data on your hard drive. It can also check him a CD/DVD to see if there are errors in it (functionality still less powerful than the aforementioned comparison).
The part on data recovery runs quietly, but nothing comparable to specific programs (which unfortunately are paying).
And free and works the way it is, if we want the actual license (no charge), we must register via email.

Nero Cover Designer, including Nero Burning Rom

I indicated that as shareware, it is included in the package of Nero Burning Rom, however, whereas many will already have black (perhaps found in a Lite version is included with some CD burner), it could almost be considered free (also because the version of Nero Cover Designer is working perfectly, whatever package we have installed Nero).
I tried for the first time many years ago (very early versions of Nero), and has since remained my favorite program for printing CD covers and DVD. It 'easy to use and very intuitive, so that for common use, you can use without having to read a single line of instructions. With the passage of the versions, the package is Nero is magnified by adding new functionality is not always useful or not always working perfectly (remember the problems for burning mp3)

Nero Cover Designer

CD Covers

Program that allows you to automatically download and print the covers of their CD Audio (the program automatically connects to an extensive database on the internet). The quality varies from cover to cover, however, is usually on high levels. Effective and very easy to use.
It is understood that it is legal to make copies for exclusively personal CD covers that are in our possession.

CdCoverCreator, create covers, inlays, labels and booklets

It a very useful free program for creating CD covers. These features are many, including that of automatically going to go and look for traces of an audio CD (just plug into your PC), and add them to cover (or even go and download the internet complete with cover some Audio CDs, texts included).
Like all such programs, allowing students to create Front, Back, Inlay and also the book (if you want). The guide is in English, and this may penalize some who are unfamiliar with that language, because it is already difficult to fully exploit the program carefully following the guide (I'm talking about more advanced features, not use common) going to trial things become more complex as it is worth devoting a bit of time, since for some functions CdCoverCreator unrivaled.
CdCoverCreator is one of the best ever in its category, and I consider it virtually on a par with Nero Cover Designer (I use it only out of habit).

CdCoverCreator

UnderCoverXP, print CD/DVD covers and labels

Allows you to easily create CD covers, DVD, and virtually every type of support exists. The manga style graphics backgrounds is nice, but at first glance seems more suited to a game that has a program like this, but after a while that you use it you realize that you have in front of a good program (in my personal preference always goes to Nero Cover Designer).

DVDCover+, lets you load cover case

Cover is not a program for, but exclusively to fit the image of a CD covers (also protected) on a virtual device. In practice with other programs can make an image of a CD (in ISO format, or .cue+, .bin, .ccd, etc..) And then with Daemon Tools you can make Windows believe that this is a real image and their CD covers.
This avoids putting and removing continuously various CD player, avoiding the wear of both the CD player / recorder itself. In practice does the same thing of the virtual drive of Alcohol. After having tried it once, it is hard to let ...
NOTE: The serial register is provided free when the program itself.

DVDCover+

DVDFab Platinum, backup your DVDs

Unlike almost all other programs to copy DVD decrypter, DVDFab Platinum can also perform the same decryption of DVDs without the help of external programs (like AnyDVD for example). It can do many things, including DVD copying 1:1 (without recompression) to reduce the normal DVD 9 DVD 5, and also convert DVD to Divx.
It performs its tasks very well, at least from the standpoint of ease of use. If we look also to the quality of the result (the quality of conversions), unfortunately things are not the same, in that it is definitely a fast program, but other programs (like Nero RECD) produce higher quality results.
Overall not suggest to anyone who wants almost everything automatically (including extraction of the DVD, like you see in the simplicity of this guide to DVDFab).

DVDFab Platinum

DVDRebuilder Pro

In the latest versions has made good progress, it is much easier to use and configure (in fact now you can use an almost entirely automated). You can use both coders payment (2 Procoder and CCE), or free services (QuEnc and HC ReJig). This page is a brief list of the best encoders and encoding time and a guide to DVD Rebuilder.
Not suitable for followers of the 'everything now', but the results are superior.
Unfortunately, the latest versions are shareware freeware (hence the move by hitfreeware.com section of shareware). Once it was completely free, it now is entirely fee. The free version can still download, but contains some bugs and is not updated for several years (unlike the fee it receives fairly frequent updates), the main difference is that the free version is unable to exclude extras from the DVD (and other similar options).

amok DVD shrinker, Backups and shrinks in high quality

BACKGROUND: for amokDVD Shrinker is an essential program to decrypt protected DVDs, like those of the DVD Rip.
Reduces the DVD 9 to DVD 5 with great speed, is one of the fastest existing programs in this category.
In theory it should be possible to choose language, main movie, etc.. But in fact the only thing is that you can choose a folder to save the finished DVD and if it in ISO format (this application is made at the end of the process conversion). The end result, whereas the DVD is fully reduced (or at least I was not able to remove languages, extras, etc..) Is quite good.
Overall AmokDVD Shrinker is a program with no options, but simple and decent results. In the category of programs to copy DVD videos, however, there are better free programs, allowing the user to have more control over the final result.
It can also download a portable version, does not require installation.

amok DVD shrinker

ratDVD, Copy DVD video decypter

BACKGROUND: ratDVD also, it needs a program to decrypt protected DVDs, like those of the DVD Rip.
It's a program to copy DVD unique: it has a very high degree of compression, through proprietary algorithms very efficient, much more than other programs in the category, is completely free, and is also very easy to use (does it all alone). That way sembrebbe an excellent program that should be included in the official category in its own right to copy DVD Video hitfreeware.
However ... ratDVD limit coincides with its own strong point. The compression algorithm is indeed efficient, but incompatible with any player from the table. Thus converted from a DVD ratDVD can only be viewed on the PC (most players pc support ratDVD format, such as KMPlayer, ZoomPlayer, or even Windows Media Player). If you want to see your DVD player on a normal table, you must convert it to DVD 9 (if the original was a DVD 9), burning a DVD 9.
In other words, if you want to convert the DVD player in a classic DVD 5 (very popular and economic) should be used from the start another program (like DVD Shrink or Nero Recode, etc..), But if you want to burning DVD 9, does not make sense to perform a conversion with ratDVD that, although valid, was still a loss of quality.
Using ratDVD remains valid especially for those who want to keep more DVDs on your PC and watch them on PC (complete with menus, extras, etc..): In this case is a good program.

Feurio, burn audio CDs free

The program has always been the reference for burning audio CDs. Supports overburning CD sound better than any program, and has several functions implemented at the highest level (including the recognition of the quality of the CD). Very good, no doubt. And pay, but the version you can download has no limitation (of time or other).
Audio CD writing is done with great precision, you can directly enter the audio tracks, or load a CUE file with attached WAV files.
If looking for quality in what you do, as well as compatibility with older readers (obtained here through the great quality in writing), use Feurio the lowest writing speed allowed by your burner, and it'll be more than satisfied.
Feurio Unfortunately it's not updated for several years: If your drive is supported, remains a great program for creating audio CDs, but if it is not supported, there is little to do.

Feurio

Visions, innovative 3D image management

And the program even more spectacular than there is in circulation to see the galleries of images, thanks to the beautiful and highly innovative 3D interface. For example, you can download to your computer images in a digital camera and view them in this quite original.
Images are displayed as thumbnails (thumbnail) in many panels side by side in 3D structures. Clicking on one of the panels, this will be shown in full screen, and from here we can view images one by one. Click on the icon again overall (home), we return to the spectacular view with all panels side by side in a 3D. The panels can be arranged in various ways on this 3D view (cylinder, horizontal and vertical wheel, disk, etc.). And then you can slide one by one, all with a single click.
It can also tweak the images slightly, for example, brightness, contrast, focus, brightness, etc..
Visions is still a program in full swing, and for that reason alone I have not yet included in the main category image viewer (along with Irfanview, and FastStone Viewer Xnview, to understand). For example is not very fast, and supports many image formats. Pictomio has more or less similar characteristics, but I feel more solid and reliable.
Apart from this, Visions has all the credentials to become a wonderful program, one of the best programs in its class. We only hope that with time remains free.

visions

Xnview, intuitive tool to view pictures and photographs

Like Irfanview is a wonderful program for viewing images.
Compared with Irfanview is perhaps a bit slower, however, is higher in image batch, that is drawing hundreds of images at once (for example lighten, bring in another format, resize, etc..) Processing Irfanview batch is something that is good, and Xnview does best. Irfanview is more intuitive (not only in image in the mass, but whatever), however Xnview makes it possible to do more stuff (at the cost of a greater effort in learning.) Everything always free.
Magic is not in the Top 10 only because there's already Irfanview which has the same characteristics, and is not in the official category of viewers because there are already 3 other with great features (FastStone Image Viewer Irfanview and Pictomio). Anyway, great program.

UnFREEz, create GIF animations

Of great simplicity, is currently the only program that I know can create animations in GIF format, from a series of images (also in GIF format, other formats are not supported).
Its use is very intuitive: just drag images into the program window and when you are ready click Make Animated GIF.
Certainly not the features and functionality of programs such as Animation Shop fee (including the ability to vary the number of final colors, so have animations smaller), but for occasional use UnFREEz is more than enough.

UnFREEz

PowerBatch, edit multiple pictures

It's a program that allows editing of images in batch mode, all at once (example: I want to change the size of all images within a folder, along with brightness, for example, and store them in a different format).
Even Irfanview and XnView allow editing in batch mode, however PowerBatch allows (albeit with a more complex approach) to perform more complex operations than with the other two would not be possible (if you have to do very simple operations, the other two are probably preferred).

SplitImage, divides an image into multiple parts

Free program very simple, which allows automatically divide an image (PNG, BMP or JPEG) into several parts, creating an HTML file with table to gather images with ease.
Although not very recent, is still the best free program that allows you to do this.

SplitImage

Photoscape, creative photo editing software

It's a graphics program that has many functions, including the (limited) possibilities of image editing (contrast, brightness and other effects), edit multiple images (batch), combinations of multiple photos in one image (the remarkable function PAGE), the ability to capture screens, create GIF animations (plus other functions such as converting from RAW to JPEG, etc.).
Generally do not like programs that do many things at once (so that they point out a few on hitfreeware), and even programs that perform many tasks (and to a limited extent), but Photoscape manages to be an exception. Indeed, the lack of too many options makes the program immediately and easily accessible to those not expert, so as not to feel too the lack of Italian language and the multiplicity of functions means that many may be the idea of what can make-and-easy with a graphics program.
The various GIMP and Paint.net are definitely on another level image processing, however Photoscape unable to do many things, and without too many problems.

Photoscape

Autostitch, 2D image stitcher

Although it was only a demo version is fully functional (maybe certain programs like this were called free demo version).
Of all the programs to create landscapes that I know, Autostitch is the easiest and most automatic (though Microsoft ICE is really easy), since he has few options, and you do not need no configure: just put photos in a folder, click Start, and the program automatically creates a panoramic image in JPEG format.
The results are quite good. It 'true that-if you make a little' test-with Hugin you get a better result, but the simplicity of AutoStitch is hardly equal.

Hugin, powerful Panorama Tools

Open Source is the program for creating panoramic photos, including free ones, I gave the best results. Has many more options than Microsoft ICE, however, has a limit that will not please many: it is semi-automatic and fully automatic.
In fact, for best results, requires some little user intervention (for example choose between photos of the panoramic one down as a marker for exposure, etc.).
If you want to spend a few minutes to learn how to use it, will give some great satisfaction. If you want something that works the first time around then the best choice is Microsoft ICE

Hugin

Microsoft I.C.E.

It a free program that allows Microsoft to create panoramic pictures with ease. And it fully automatic (though the pictures should be numbered correctly), and requires no special effort or knowledge by the user.
And with wonderful preview, which gives you a pretty good idea of the final result. The quality of the resulting panoramic picture is excellent, only sin that in some cases (at least among the tests I did) there was some slight burr in one of the junctions between the pictures (while the preview was absolutely perfect).
Overall, the program is very good, especially for beginners.

Microangelo Toolset, Toolsets editor (shareware)

For the past few years is considered one of the best if not the best program for creating/editing icons, even desktop icons to replace the OS with those chosen by us (including executables, Windows does not do that). It has all the options that you can imagine for the design of desktop icons, including the possibility of setting the opacity, or precision instruments (lines, fill, etc.).
It is not easy to use, but not especially difficult. Additional features that have free programs compared to competitors (which are easier already) need a little time to be mastered.

Microangelo Toolset

Icons from file, extract icons

This program is able to extract icons from any executable we choose, and allows us to save them in various formats (bmp, jpg, ico).
The initial impact, because even the thin interface is not the most favorable and we must use it for a few minutes before realizing that it is very good at what he does, and we can appreciate the best.
Overall, if you want to take the icon from any exe file (or even more of an icon, if they are present in the executable itself), is a good choice.

Toolbox pixels

While IcoFX is more oriented towards changing the icons, Pixel Toolbox is towards the creation of icons (or mouse cursors) from scratch, or resizing an image ready (.jpg, .bmp, .png, etc.). You can create icons of different sizes, from 16x16 to 64x64. At the end you can save your work in a file .ico (.cur if instead we created a mouse cursor).
The graphic interface is intuitive and colorful, for a program that is simple to use and understand (at least for its main functions). Very, very nice.

Toolbox pixels

InkScape, streamlined interface

Operation is very simple, and following the tutorials available on the Inkscape can learn very quickly, to use (such as fast as with competitors charge, which surely have more features, but require a greater effort to be mastered).
The program is nice and easy to understand. Even those who have never used a vector graphics program, you may be able to draw in a few minutes of simple shapes vector.
Overall, another of those free programs for very high quality.

ComicRack, eComic library

Even in Italian, is now one of the best if not the best program to view comics.
Can not only read comics in various formats (7z format is also supported, for example), but also to give an assessment (with the stars) to comics on your computer and take a kind of archive of comics that are our possession (this reminds programs to organize the mp3).
In practice ComicRack is not just a viewer, but something more.
The pages of comics can also be exported in JPEG, BMP or other formats.
NOTE: My opinion reflects the fact that ComicRack has more features that performs well and is in Italian. If I were to restrict only to the simplicity and lightness of reading a comic, and choose CDisplay CDisplayEx.

CDisplay, Efficient for reading comics

Although not updated since long time, and although the author seems to have abandoned the project continues to remain one of the most common (if not the most common), to read comics in CBR or CBZ version on your computer.
The first time you start it can be confused, because CDisplay covers the whole screen, but as you try to click the right mouse button and upload a few online comics, you see immediately its capabilities: it is fast to load and resize pages, and you can also read the comic itself from one page to another with a double click.
Looking for a lightweight and efficient program for reading comics, CDisplay still very valid today.

PhotoPlus SE, comprehensible photo editing

PhotoPlus 6 (not to be confused with the latest versions of PhotoPlus type 8, which are paid), is a graphics design program and fotoricco free for personal (not allowed to use it for non-personal purposes, for example company).
And free after registration by email (no charge)
The graphical interface and functionality reminiscent of early versions of PaintShop, they are good but not exceptional, not at the current graphics programs.
On the other hand, however, like the early versions of PaintShop, it is very easy to use, precisely because it is too rich and varied menus of options. As always in these cases, this can be seen as an advantage or a disadvantage depending on the user experience.
Overall a good graphics design program, although I prefer other sector programs such as Paint.net and Artweaver that, besides having more features (brushes, filters, etc..) Are also used for commercial purposes (and not requiring any registration, even free).

PhotoPlus SE

TuxPaint, Children's drawing and photo

It an open source graphics/design created especially for children (3 to 12 years), very colorful, friendly and easy to use. The program is very nice (and suitable for a child), and we can hear nice sound effects at the various operations (when we draw is that when we select different instruments). Many brushes with different shapes are ready (including penguins and various forms of cartoons, which may be added to drawings).
Also there are several effects that can be applied to any design or just a part of it, such as relief, lighten/darken, draw rays of light, waves, change colors, etc..
Overall, a program dedicated to children, immediate and richest, but also able to take their familiarity with commands and programs that will use filters in the future (many commands and filters are very similar, whether you use programs for children and professional programs) .

Artweaver, record and replay

It's another program of the highest quality, kind of Paint.net, which can be used free of charge for purposes cmmerciali. Fast, lightweight, intuitive, so that you can use instantly without reading a line of instructions, with an excellent graphical interface, but also powerful. It almost on the level of Paint.net or most (for those seeking a light program and could also be immediate superior).
Unfortunately, there are categories where you can find free programs of excellent quality is very difficult and others-like this-in which applications are worth a lot.
