Paint.net, good-quality image and photo editing

It a beautiful open source graphics design that stands out for its ease of use, speed and high quality results. It's more oriented design and editing application that does not effect (if you want to apply filters and effects to your images of various kinds, used Photofiltre or GIMP). Allows the drawing layers (layers), has unlimited levels of undo and a number of tools for freehand drawing.
If you draw or manual retouching of images is absolutely recommended.
It's also available in Italian localization of all the latest versions, just go here (last page for version 3.20 and 3.22 beta). It'simply unzip the file you will download in the root folder of Paint.net, and restart the Italian will also be among the languages available.
GIMP has many more features, Paint.net is lighter and immediate. On hitfreeware.com there is also a guide to create montages with Paint.net.

Album Burger, Photo Album

It very rich in options and features, far more than its competitors, such that each page can be set individually. This can be an advantage for those who want complete control over your album, but a disadvantage for all other users, who are simply seeking a program that can generate all automatically, once set a few parameters (which would be confused with Album Burger).
At the end of the album can be created with a file readable by Album Burger itself, or exported for the web (html) so that they can be viewed with any browser (firefox, explorer, opera, etc.). It also a search feature to find desktop photos, if we created very great album.
Valid, but I think the semplictà of Jalbum or iWeb album is better, unless you need a program to configure in detail.

Album Burger

Web Album generator, Create online photo albums

At first glance it seems that a program like this, without anything special that distinguishes it, however when you go to create the album, one realizes that it is very valid. Photos pictures can be resized or rotated at each can be assigned its own title, the thumbnails are created automatic (small images).
Like iWeb albums, the end result is saved in a folder with an html file, so that they can be read by any browser of any operating system (you can put everything on usb stick, so you can see everywhere ) or on the internet, if we have a website.

iWeb Album, high quality and understandable

Create photo albums of high quality and extremely simple and understandable to everyone, also available in Italian. You just choose the look and feel of our album (a set of ready-made models), indicate the photo folder, and in short everything is ready.
The end result will be a unique portfolio, and may be viewed with any browser in any platform (it generates a normal html file, so that can be loaded independently from the operating system), or even put on the internet in their web space.

iWeb Album

JAlbum, flexible web photo albums

You can download after a registration is optional (in the sense that even if we invent the data, we can download the same). Very easy to use, it is also highly configurable, since there are many ready-made models (skins), through which we can create a photo album with the look we want.
At the end we can save our album in one folder (where access to a regular html file that can be read by any browser in any operating system) or send him to net, using the free web space that JAlbum gives us ( in case of semi-professional or professional projects, however, is much better buy a website and load it into the files saved by JAlbum itself, anyway).
Overall I consider when the best program for managing photo albums on the internet (among other JAlbum is also in Italian).

JAlbum

FontRenamer, truetype font files

Since the names of cool fonts installed on your system are not very explanatory, someone may want to have names much lighter (slightly resembling the rename mp3 tag depending on where you are mp3 like: traccia1, traccia2, traccia3, etc..).
Here FontRenamer so that takes care of doing all the work automatically. Just select a folder, and he will do everything alone. No options, nothing to configure, and just a click away.
However, fonts are not like mp3. Some programs may require certain fonts that are not able to find them if the name was changed, and therefore, in those cases, those programs would malfunction.
So I just point out FontRenamer (which by its does its job properly), and then everyone will do as it deems appropriate.

FontFrenzy, remove/uninstall fonts when there are too many

Sometimes you may install an excessive number of fonts (often some of the programs install additional fonts), which in the long run has negative effects on the speed of the operating system.
FontFrenzy deals replace things: it gives the number of fonts than the original Windows installation.
Since this is potentially dangerous (some programs may have problems without their font style), you can also perform a backup of all installed fonts, so then you can restore them if necessary.

FontFrenzy

Fony, create Windows bitmap fonts

It's a good program very portable and light to create custom bitmap cute fonts, so anyone who wants it can draw its own set of characters. It easy to use, maybe too much, but if nothing else is suitable for novice users. Eventually the font that we designed (or adjusted), can be exported in bitmap format (.fon, .fnt, .bdf, etc..), Or installed on your system (in this case, some have reported problems with Windows Vista) .
Unfortunately Fony is unable to save the fonts in vector / TrueType (which would be very useful).
If you look for something much more complex and professional to draw the characters, I suggest instead FontForge (open source and cross platform), but not too easy to install on Windows.

Fony

NexusFont, intuitive font manager for Windows

Like AMP Font style Viewer is an excellent program to display fonts installed. Available also in portable version (that no installation required), NexusFont has as its most interesting feature being able to simultaneously view multiple fonts, with a text chosen by us. This makes it much easier to make our choices.
It can also install / uninstall fonts we want (like AMP Font Viewer).
Among the best known, being extremely fast. If I were to indicate a personal preference, I would recommend NexusFont than even valid FontViewer AMP.

NexusFont

AMP Font Viewer, view and install powerfull fonts manager

It's a good program that lets you download fonts on your computer. Light and extremely effective.
You can write any text, and instantly check how it looks, with both free fonts installed on your system, and in those that are not installed (on an external CD or USB stick, etc.).
If we like a font not installed, you can choose to install it immediately.
This is a very useful thing, because it avoids having to install thousands of fonts (which will be used to overload the system) when there are only two or three. It can also uninstall the installed fonts do not want more.

Gadwin Print Screen, Screen capture enhance your screen shots

It very simple and lightweight. You learn to use in seconds, and performs his job honestly. It also allows a preview of the screen (or window) to save, and to redefine the keys to our choice of catch-screens.
The programs of the category captures window screens offer more (sometimes much more), but if you look for something very simple even Gadwin Print Screen may suffice.

Gadwin Print Screen

Screen Grab Pro, Freeware capture tool

It has many interesting features, rarely available in the free competitors, including automatic image capture time, and the ability to copy directly into the system clipboard, so you can make a quick copy / paste in our favorite image editor. It can capture full screen or user-defined regions (or windows selectable from a list). Very easy to use (because options are not many).

Screen Grab Pro

MWSnap, screenshoot maker

Although the 2002 MWSnap still remains the best free programs for image capture. It has features that enable him to capture a fixed rectangle, a rectangle defined by the user, a window or the entire desktop. It works both via GUI or via keyboard hotkeys. Images can be saved in five formats, including GIF, JPG and PNG.

PicPick, software for developers graphic designers

PicPick is a powerful screen capture program that has the interesting feature being also available in portable, it requires no installation.
And Light, but at the same time full of interesting features: you can capture the entire screen, a window, page, web, user-definable area, etc.. If a window is too large to fit on the screen, PicPick will automatically scroll across the window.
Eventually you can edit the captured image of a small utility included in PicPick same photo (do not know what this last feature is useful, but this is the same).

PicPick

FastStone Capture 5.3 Free, Free image viewer, editor and screen capturer

It been a long time for the best free program to screen capture shots. Lightweight, simple, intuitive, can be used instantly, without reading a single line of instructions.
In the past I had noted when he was free, then removed when I had become a fee, now I once again reinstated the latest version free.
Although not reported as a portable program, in fact, once installed, can be copied to where we want (USB keys, external drives, etc..), And launched from there without any problem.
Still regard it as the best free program of this category. The version given here, the 5.3, is the last free (it works perfectly with Vista).

FastStone Capture

Amok CD/DVD Burning, Burn with a fast, vital and effective

Amok CD/DVD Burning on paper is one of the best free burning software, it supports directly or through plug all the most important features include: creating audio CDs, creating DVD Video, VCD, SVCD, and Burn ISO images, BIN, NRG, and is primarily in Italian is portable (no installation required).
It's a lightweight program, it is incredible that so tiny a software supports many functions, although many of them via plugins. Also can be used free of charge for commercial (shop, company, etc.)..
All this should apply widely the reporting category in my official Burning software CDs and DVDs, but ... I Amok CD/DVD Burning has a number of problems, perhaps not perfect support of my Plextor recorder (who knows), so I can not report through official something that I do not work properly.
On the other hand works well with others, so for now I report here, waiting to work fine to me (and perhaps reports from users).

Amok CD / DVD Burning

FinalBurner Free, User friendly to Burn CDs and DVDs

FinalBurner also free, as free and similar to DeepBurner burning programs, that is the speech made several times: all these programs have to pay a higher version, which contains many important features that are removed in the free version.
In the case of free FinalBurner one thing in addition: the GUI is not, in my opinion, on the same level as the others, but is much more confusing. The windows tend to overlap the top and it is hard to understand what to do.
My opinion is always the same: in Category Burning CDs and DVDs are other programs that I suggest (and completely free).
Compared with other burning programs has a unique feature: it can create a file in the autorun CD / DVD writing, so that we can start automatically when you insert them into your computer.

IKEA Home Planner, Furniture home planner

It an application that can furnish the house in 3D using Ikea furniture (there are already mobile ready to be inserted). Through the GUI of the program you can draw the different rooms with a view from above, and then proceed to enter Ikea furniture taking them directly from list (contained in the program).
Ikea Home Planner is intuitive and very easy to use, even for those who have never used a 3D software in his life. Does not leave much special effects or subtleties of various kinds (for example there is a final rendering of the highest quality) is all substance and little appearance.
Overall, there is direct and effective.
The only limit is that it is obliged to use Ikea furniture and if they can create their own, or use comuque several (such as in Sweet Home 3D). In any event, those planning to furnish a house with Ikea furniture will be completely satisfied.

IKEA Home Planner

Now3D, 3D graphics and ray tracing

Italian program, simple enough to use (with a good user interface) and several interesting features, including photons, Fog, reflection / refraction, ray tracing algorithms, 2D filters of various types, global illumination, bump mapping and more.
Can not compete with commercial software category, which cost hundreds or thousands of euros, but if you spend some 'time you can get results more than interesting. Compared to PovRay is certainly easier to use (and long), though perhaps not come again to the quality of rendering the results thereof.

Now3D

StarBurn Rocketdivision, powerful tool for grabbing, burning and mastering CDs, DVDs, Blu-Ray and HD-DVD

And the free version of a burning software fee that costs a few hundred euros. It has all the features of the paid version, except that it can burn through a network (a function in a normal user would ever need).
Compared with other burning software have a special, and that is working through ecluse Wizards (Wizard) very simple, while other programs typically drag what you want to write the interface and from there you start burning. The number of features is very high, superior to other competitors free of charge, and many of those in charge, and that is supporting CD, DVD and Blu-Ray (including HD-DVD), ability to create audio CDs and DVD Video, VCD and SVCD to extract ISO images to split a DVD9 into two DVD5 to create bootable disks.
NOTE: If you do not want the extra advertising on your computer (like changing the homepage, toolbar and other useless), I suggest you choose at installation, the Custom Install (not Full Install) and uncheck everything except StarBurn same.

Nero 9 Lite, Freeware to Burn CDs and DVDs

If there is a program (or a complete package) which is famous for Windows, this is certainly Nero Burning Rom Although the package has grown over the years, becoming more than just a burning program, from a few MB hundreds and hundreds of megabytes, was always in the heart of many computer enthusiasts.
Just install the Lite version of Nero 9 (free), however, we immediately notice several limitations: First, we realize that is not free (at least in the sense that I mean the word free on hitfreeware) but Adware, since forces to install the Toolbar Ask.com.
The capabilities of Nero 9 Lite decreased bone: no ability to burn Blu-Ray, but only CDs and DVDs without any other program of the complete package (Nero Recode Nero Cover Designer), and a heaviness truly unjustified compared other free programs that do a lot more (over 30 MB download that become 90 once installed the program).
Clicking on various icons or program menu (how to burn audio CDs or video discs or audio ripping, etc..), You are invited to buy the full version.
Black is certainly a valid packet in the full Nero Burning Rom 9 (surcharge).
If you try something for free, but we have programs available to lighter and more complete (like CDBurnerXP, InfraRecorder, ImgBurn, etc.).

Ants, Watching a little rascals and enjoy it

Ants marks the advanced sharing programs (P2P or file sharing) of a new generation. All the experience accumulated with other programs like that (particularly in the privacy of personal information), is leading toward Ants.
The guarantee of confidentiality and the protection of anonymity, they have a price in terms of speed: Ants in principle as the ratio tends to 1:1, that is generally able to download as well as dates.

Ants

Shareaza, Free software to search and download any type of media files

Excellent interface, good speed download. And good, but for now I do not consider the level of those at the top. If nothing else is open source, which makes it more difficult to close. It lets you download from other networks (eMule and Bittorrent), as well as its network, but if you want to download from bittorrent and emule networks is good that you use them.
Overall discreet, but if you find the material are other programs click the address.

Snapter, Scan documents using your digital camera

It's a shareware program, when one of its kind makes it possible to use a digital camera instead of scanner to scan documents. Once photographed a document Snapter automatically takes care of it equivalent to a crawl, correcting problems in perspective, position, angle, etc..
It can also digitize a book Snapter reset itself automatically problems bending the pages.
At the moment, unfortunately, there is a free program that can do such a thing (at least AFAIK), and the price Snapter not too cheap ($ 49). So, in the absence of viable alternatives, I decided to report them.

Snapter

Renamer, Rename files is an advanced

Wonderful tool to rename files in bulk is that folders (only to rename folders and files without touching, click on Filter Settings when you click on Add Folders).
Through Renamer you can add a prefix beginning of the name, a suffix at the end, change the extension, remove a part of the name, substitute the name or part of it, go to uppercase to lowercase or vice versa (including the possibility of change case of letters only the first letter) and more. And also possible to combine all these rules together.
The program is very nice, better than competing programs, as currently only in English.
Operation is quite simple, although not as rivals (Lupas Rename is immediate).
Renamer allows you to perform more complex operations of others (as mentioned before, you may combine their many rules at once), but needs a bit longer to be understood. Fortunately there is a preview, so you can see in advance the changes to the various names.
Renamer is also available in portable, requiring no installation
Valuable program (which as mentioned can also rename the folders, not just the files in them), although my personal preference is still to Lupas Rename.

Renamer

Unlocker, unlock and delete files

There are cases where, when you try to delete a file, you get an error message like: "Can not delete file in use ... object ..." or something (often happens with video files). Despite everything we do, including one or more reboots, in some circumstances there is no way to delete the file.
Here then file Unlocker comes to help us, being able to intervene successfully and deleting the unwanted files in those cases that seemed hopeless.

SplitFile, Share File

Allows you to split into several parts even very large files, creating a batch file to combine them automatically, for example if we have a file of 30GB and we divide it into several DVDs to take on another computer, and the like.
Compared to similar programs, SplitFile supports large files, has an excellent graphical interface, and is more accurate (in some cases-with other-there was no way to gather large files previously broken).

SplitFile

SetFileDate, Utility to alter the time and date

Very simple program that lets you easily change the date to a single file or group of files. Can be useful, for example, to set the date hundreds of photos taken by digital camera.
The usage is so elementary as not to require even a line of instructions (and this is really cool). The only drawback is the need to do a refresh of the folder where we changed the dates (strangely enough, is done automatically).

SetFileDate

Lupas Rename, designed to rename a big number of files

Wonderful program that lets you rename hundreds (or thousands) of files at once. We can change the extension, or adding a suffix in the head, or number them automatically, or remove part of the name, or more. All accompanied by an essential preview, and an equally indispensable Undo function (in case something goes wrong). Easy to use and incredibly effective.

Free Commander, file manager with full customized

Very nice program that lets you copy, move, view files, etc. On two separate windows. It very similar to WinNc (as with several functions less), but it works well and takes very few resources. For those who need only to move, rename, etc. Is to consider (because it's completely free). Can also be used for commercial purposes.
The latest versions have made significant progress: Free Commander freeware (in addition to English), and there is also available in portable, it requires no installation.

Free Commander

xplorer2 lite, the lightweight version of xplorer2

Despite the shortened version (and free for personal use) of a program with more features, xplorer2 lite dispute is a file manager is very interesting and feature-rich, very useful for those who must manage large amounts of files (to move a partition another, to another hard disk or copy / delete / sync / dividends, etc...)
The program is very nice, configurable as little or nothing (it is only in the paid version).
Despite the limitations compared with the shareware version (called xplorer2), I consider the best file manager free, although the improvements have led the Free Commander at levels close enough.

xplorer2 lite

Adobe DNG, Adobe DNG converter RAW images to DNG

It's a program that converts images from the camera RAW format (supports hundreds of digital cameras) in the DNG format, with the hope that in future the DNG format becomes what is now the PDF documents. It is always possible that a few years of our camera RAW format no longer supported by the various image editing programs, or we may have several-years-RAW photos from various digital cameras, with considerable confusion.
However convert your photos into a single format, just the DNG, we will have a single standard to reference, today and tomorrow. It remains to be seen whether the DNG will become a real standard.

Cam2pc, port pictures from camera to PC

Allows you to transfer digital photos from camera to PC. Feature of this program is to automatically place the photos in a folder named the date. If, for example, do many pictures on January 2, January 3, January 4, etc..,-Once we brought the photos to the PC-photos of the Jan. 2 letter in the Jan. 2, Jan. 3 those of the three folder January, and so on.
Cam2pc can also create slideshows / galleries of images in real time. It can also make small changes to images, like rename, rotate, resize and convert to other formats.
Unfortunately there is a version higher fee, which causes some extra features (like automatic exposure adjustment, management of the EXIF data, the ability to run the crop JPEG photos images without loss of quality, etc..) Are not in the free version.

Cam2pc

Stamps, change the name of the photo by date

It's a very simple program that automatically rename digital photos albums according to date. If that is a photo (by name foto001.JPG) was taken December 1, 2010, the photo will be called 2010-12-01@foto001.JPG (or something). This makes it much easier, then find and reorder.
It is not one of those essential programs, but is useful for those who make a lot of photos albums and then having difficulty where to replace.

Stamps

GeoSetter, associate photos with a Google maps map

It's a particular program, which allows you to attach photos pictures to a map or a route (go to see the EXIF data on the GPS position, if any).
If our camera has integrated GPS functionality, this job is done automatically and associate our photos pictures to a world map (Google Maps) becomes very simple. If our camera does not have GPS, we can always do it manually, by associating ourselves a photo to a location (perhaps by including the altitude).
To better see what GeoSetter can do, should look at the Screenshots section of the site developer.

GeoSetter

PhotoME, management Exif, IPTC and ICC editor

It's a program that helps manage EXIF data from digital cameras. At the time I know of no other program (especially if free of charge) that is able to approach him.
You can see the data of pictures taken, such as date and time, focal length, aperture, exposure time, etc.. But also less known data, if supported by the digital camera, such as the ambient temperature at the time of the shooting and the location (GPS useful for programs like GeoSetter, reported below).
The data that we can see depends on what the machine supports, for example, we will not see your GPS position if our camera does not have a GPS receiver (integrated), and so on.
If you have already changed the picture with programs such as GIMP, Adobe PhotoShop, PaintShop, etc.., It is possible that some of the EXIF data is deleted, so it would be better to work with the images do not change the digital camera itself (usually RAW, even though with certain cameras is recommended to open JPEG files instead of RAW because there are writings EXIF data).
Overall PhotoME consider the best program to read and manage EXIF data in depth (and usually the meta data of an image).

PhotoME

Photomeister, Lets you edit and publish photos from your digital camera

It's a program that at first impression it leaves a perplexed: the program is not very beautiful (and the website seems a bit 'poor').
If you look Photomeister deeper, you find that can-do-well and many functions: you can import images from camera to PC, run a few small tweaks of the same (although the editing programs are certainly more appropriate to do so), create custom photo albums (also in PDF), create screensavers or image galleries (including some transition effect) for export to DVD or VCD (or even a .exe to run on PC), more .
It true that if you use specific programs for each of these features will get better results (also for greater configurability of them), but for many users, especially if inexperienced, it is handy to have so many features packed into a single program, even because there is a chance to try things that otherwise will never have.

Photomeister

Xdepth Raw Converter (RAW conversion software)

It's a free program that converts photos pictures from RAW format of almost all models of digital cameras and also saves up to 1 / 4 the size. The aim is to be able to store our images directly in RAW format similar to (trying to save space).
Xdepth RAW format you can also add the DRM (Digital Right Management, Digital Rights Management) so that the copyright of the pictures inside the file.
Xdepth Raw Converter also contains an advanced rendering engine, can change in a particular sautrazione, white balance, and some other criteria.
To see the images in RAW format Xdepth, you then need a program to display images, such as Irfanview. In any case, the program is also able to save in Adobe DNG format (recognized by most image editing programs).
Xdepth Raw Converter comparison is free for both personal and professional use.

Xdepth Raw Converter

SwissKnife, create/format disk partitions in your hard drive

It's a decent free program that formatted in NTFS format. Unfortunately not worth a tenth-of-business competitors, starting with the fact that you can not use floppy / CD or allows you to resize, convert or move disk partitions, however, is free, there is little competition in freeware, and all things considered is decent (for my criteria): this was true in the past reporting on the category partitions Hitfreeware.
Over the years, however, have left very good partitioning of new programs, such as EASEUS boot Partition Wizard and the like, and certainly SwissKnife remained behind.

Acronis Disk Director, comprehensive partition and disk management suite (shareware)

For years in the shadow of Partition Magic freeware, over time began to find his own dimension, and at this time is (at least) a couple of steps above the competitor. The lack of development of Partition Magic it's causing the inexorable decline, while the contrary Acronis Disk Director is developed and updated regularly (including compatibility with Windows Vista).
Acronis Disk Director suite V10.0 can also be booted from CD-wanting-in order to safely perform major operations.

Acronis Disk Director

EASEUS, Partition regardless of your operating system (freeware and shareware)

It'a free for personal use (fee for commercial use) for creating and editing (delete, format, rename, resize, etc..) Disk Partitions, specifically for Windows XP. Works well, easy, and the operations can play with some confidence (in the sense that a program is reliable).
The program seems to Disk Partition Magic 6-7 years ago, however, since it is free, you can not complain too much.
Unfortunately, the version 2.0 if you have added the important innovation of the compatibility with Windows Vista, in the free version has removed a key feature, namely the ability to create a bootable CD and run the program from DOS, functionality that is extremely important and that is the basis of my driving on the partitions.
The program installs and works fine, but you can not create the bootable CD.
If something goes wrong while editing / creating partitions, or Windows crashes or the power fails or other problems, then, without a bootable CD, are very big trouble.
It's true that the paid version also includes this feature, but if I buy a program fee, then there are programs that are tested for years (in first person by me) as Acronis Disk Director and Paragon Partition Manager Pro

EASEUS

System Rescue CD - GParted, minimal resources to get disk partitioned

It's a good bootable CD open source program, which among other things allows you to create and modify partitions in various formats, including NTFS precious (precious because they are rarely free programs include NTFS). Among the major programs included in the CD, this is GParted, a real free clone of Partition Magic (the graphics are similar), which we use to create and possibly resize our partitions manager.
Remember that what is downloaded is an executable file, but an ISO file (over 100 MB) to be burned (from any burning program, like those included here). This CD will be inserted at the start of the pc to boot from it. If desired, a couple of minutes of work for configuration-you can also install on USB pen drive and boot from that (if the BIOS of your motherboard supports it).

IMPORTANT: linux utility that runs well on any Windows (do not let that scare because it says Windows, it works perfectly), thanks to the fact that you start from DOS. Not quite Acronis Disk Director (before resizing partitions manager where there are important data I would think 100 times), however, is more than adequate for most users.

System Rescue CD - GParted

Partition Wizard, Partition Wizard create and manage disk partitions

When I consider the best free program to create and manage disk partitions (for personal use and not commercial).
The program is very well made, clear and intuitive. Partition Wizard is able to create disk partitions, delete, resize, clone disks or partitions (for example, to clone a hard disk to another), convert the format of the disk partition from FAT to NTFS, and much more.
Unfortunately the free version, than pay, is unable to merge two partitions. In this case, if we delete a partition and merge it with another, we must help with the command Move / Resize (which is possible only if the two partitions are consecutive).
Partition Wizard works fine with both operating systems 32 and 64 bits.
It can also download an ISO file to burn to CD to run when the computer and run the program from DOS (which is definitely recommended when it comes to working with partitions).

Weather Fusion, Programs World Weather and meteorology

It's a good forecast program, capable of giving the world weather forecast for next ten days. The program is the best (if not the best) among the programs in this category, clear and colorful.
The information is very detailed (forecast maximum and minimum temperatures, actual temperature and apparent temperature, pressure, humidity, wind speed and direction, visibility).
To move from one city to another, after entering the name of a new city, we must do a manual refresh (refresh this thing actually is not very intuitive).

Weather Fusion

Weather Pulse, free program World Weather surprisingly good

It's another free program World Weather surprisingly good. Compared to WeatherMate has some functions estimates in more and more detailed (you can get the forecast for ten days instead of weeks, and the current day can also have time for now).
It also possible to have satellite image (Italy, or area of the world want), with the world weather throughout the area.
This is quite good, but in my opinion not on the same level (very high) of WeatherMate. Even Weather Pulse is only in English, as it is still easy to use.

Weather Pulse

WeatherMate, Free program to have the world weather

Excellent program that allows completely free to have the world weather on our desktop (there are rib cities around the world, including several dozen Italian). You can set to have a short or detailed estimates of the current day or entire week (shown on a daily basis).
The graphics are colorful and very beautiful, you pick a city (or nearest city in our area), we have a series of simple information but also detailed information (weather, minimum and maximum temperatures, actual temperature and apparent temperature, pressure, humidity, wind speed and direction, visibility, etc.).
Unfortunately it is only in English, though it is simple enough for everyone, because once set, are always those terms.

WeatherMate

Stellarium, Stellarium review can show the sky

It's a great open source program that can show the sky high, with information on about 120000 stars (including constellations, planets, etc.).. Shows a realistic sky in 3D perspective, simulating the visual to the naked eye, binoculars or telescope. It can see the sky is the atmosphere that without (the visual atmosphere is nice, but if you want to see the stars you may need to disable it), and have information about distant stars (magnitude, distance, category, spectral) simply clicking on them. The zoom allows you to go see the selected celestial body as if you were using a telescope.

Very very nice.

Stellarium

Celestia, for viewing celestial satellite maps

It's another good open source program for viewing celestial satellite maps. Compared to Stellarium is perhaps better suited to older computers, and more plugins, scaribili site separately (the graphics are good, but not equal to Stellarium). Again, clicking on the various stars of the sky you will get useful information on the same (magnitude, spectral type, etc.)..

Celestia

Marble, City Maps and Territories

Very nice program to see maps of the Earth view (and Moon and Mars). It as a kind of gigantic world atlas (road and not only). Clicking on any of the places in the map, you are also automatically sent to the corresponding Wikipedia article (if available).
And can display a world map both daytime and night (as the night vision is less detailed than in daylight), and turn the earth with the mouse. Clicking the right mouse button, you can measure the distance between two points.
And essential connection to the Internet, since many data are downloaded online gradually, depending on our use (such as the Wikipedia information).
Marble is not even particularly hard for what he does, so it should run quite well on a computer not very recently.

MiPony, Download Manager One-Click-Hoster

It a download manager freeware for sites like MegaUpload and Rapidshare, One-Click-Hoster, the type of JDownloader. The GUI is quite good, and how the program is quite intuitive (it is just paste the link to the various downloads and click CheckAll).
Once the links have been verified by MiPony, downloading will start automatically. There will need to enter the password management that usually these sites require.
If there is to wait a few minutes (as usually happens when you download multiple files from the same Hoster) MiPony will start downloading automatically when it's time (just like other such programs) without intervention or more clicks by the user.
Compared to competitor JDownloader, MiPony is lighter (from GUI), while JDownloader is perhaps the most frequently updated time (still need to see how things go with the passage of time, to give a final decision).
