CDCheck, detection & recovery of damaged files

It's a program focused primarily on the identification of errors on a CD (or DVD), but also allows you to do some data recovery.
The main feature of CDCheck is to make a comparison between the data and the data written to hard disk, even if the audio CD (in this case by referring to the tracks WAV Hard Disk): in this case will be able to whether the burning took place in an absolutely identical to the data on your hard drive. Visions is still a program in full swing, and for that reason alone I have not yet included in the main category image viewer (along with Irfanview, and FastStone Viewer Xnview, to understand). For example is not very fast, and supports many image formats. Pictomio has more or less similar characteristics, but I feel more solid and reliable.
Apart from this, Visions has all the credentials to become a wonderful program, one of the best programs in its class. We only hope that with time remains free.

Xnview, intuitive tool to view pictures and photographs

Like Irfanview is a wonderful program for viewing images.
Compared with Irfanview is perhaps a bit slower, however, is higher in image batch, that is drawing hundreds of images at once (for example lighten, bring in another format, resize, etc..) Processing Irfanview batch is something that is good, and Xnview does best. Irfanview is more intuitive (not only in image in the mass, but whatever), however Xnview makes it possible to do more stuff (at the cost of a greater effort in learning.) Everything always free.
Magic is not in the Top 10 only because there's already Irfanview which has the same characteristics, and is not in the official category of viewers because there are already 3 other with great features (FastStone Image Viewer Irfanview and Pictomio). Anyway, great program.

Open Source is the program for creating panoramic photos, including free ones, I gave the best results. Has many more options than Microsoft ICE, however, has a limit that will not please many: it is semi-automatic and fully automatic.
In fact, for best results, requires some little user intervention (for example choose between photos of the panoramic one down as a marker for exposure, etc.).
If you want to spend a few minutes to learn how to use it, will give some great satisfaction. If you want something that works the first time around then the best choice is Microsoft ICE

This program is able to extract icons from any executable we choose, and allows us to save them in various formats (bmp, jpg, ico).

Overall, if you want to take the icon from any exe file (or even more of an icon, if they are present in the executable itself), is a good choice.

While IcoFX is more oriented towards changing the icons, Pixel Toolbox is towards the creation of icons (or mouse cursors) from scratch, or resizing an image ready (.jpg, .bmp, .png, etc.). You can create icons of different sizes, from 16x16 to 64x64. At the end you can save your work in a file .ico (.cur if instead we created a mouse cursor).
The graphic interface is intuitive and colorful, for a program that is simple to use and understand (at least for its main functions). Very, very nice.

Operation is very simple, and following the tutorials available on the Inkscape can learn very quickly, to use (such as fast as with competitors charge, which surely have more features, but require a greater effort to be mastered).
The program is nice and easy to understand. Even those who have never used a vector graphics program, you may be able to draw in a few minutes of simple shapes vector.
Overall, another of those free programs for very high quality.

PhotoPlus SE, comprehensible photo editing

PhotoPlus 6 (not to be confused with the latest versions of PhotoPlus type 8, which are paid), is a graphics design program and fotoricco free for personal (not allowed to use it for non-personal purposes, for example company).

The graphical interface and functionality reminiscent of early versions of PaintShop, they are good but not exceptional, not at the current graphics programs.
On the other hand, however, like the early versions of PaintShop, it is very easy to use, precisely because it is too rich and varied menus of options. As always in these cases, this can be seen as an advantage or a disadvantage depending on the user experience.
Overall a good graphics design program, although I prefer other sector programs such as Paint.net and Artweaver that, besides having more features (brushes, filters, etc..) Are also used for commercial purposes (and not requiring any registration, even free).

Fast, lightweight, intuitive, so that you can use instantly without reading a line of instructions, with an excellent graphical interface, but also powerful. It almost on the level of Paint.net or most (for those seeking a light program and could also be immediate superior).
Unfortunately, there are categories where you can find free programs of excellent quality is very difficult and others-like this-in which applications are worth a lot.

NexusFont, intuitive font manager for Windows

Like AMP Font style Viewer is an excellent program to display fonts installed. Available also in portable version (that no installation required), NexusFont has as its most interesting feature being able to simultaneously view multiple fonts, with a text chosen by us. This makes it much easier to make our choices.
It can also install / uninstall fonts we want (like AMP Font Viewer).
Among the best known, being extremely fast. If I were to indicate a personal preference, I would recommend NexusFont than even valid FontViewer AMP.

You can write any text, and instantly check how it looks, with both free fonts installed on your system, and in those that are not installed (on an external CD or USB stick, etc.).

AlZip, file archiving and file compression (shareware)

Can decompress 36 archive formats (practically all the known), can compress files into 8 formats (ALZ, BH, CAB, TGZ, JAR, LZH, TAR and ZIP), and fast extraction. ALZ format allows you to create archives of unlimited size.
Among the many interesting features definition, you can also sort the files stored according to many criteria (name, date, comments, algorithms, etc..) Useful in the case of archives containing many files.
ALZip also has a function to retrieve forgotten passwords.
