Registry Explorer 1.6.0

Vilma Registry Explorer is a program dedicated to the entire people of the freak. This is a very useful software that lets you keep an eye on many aspects that characterize the system.

The main function of Vilma is to allow an easier and more convenient access to information stored in the Windows registry. We have repeatedly said that any action brought to a piece of precision what is the Windows system registry involves creating a backup of the Registry in order to avoid problems. From now you do not need a backup for each action taken on the register: Vilma Registry Explorer will do this in the background so fully automatically.

Vilma also includes a powerful search function. And then a much more powerful and efficient than the Registry Editor included with Windows.

Drive Rescue 3.1.0.5

A free program that allows you to recover files mistakenly deleted from your hard drive.

DriveRescue is easy to use and adopt the visual style of the deleted files as does Windows Explorer.

For each deleted file, the program indicates what are the chances of a full recovery.
The only flaw is the fact that the program fully supports only FAT and FAT32 file systems (NTFS is not yet fully supported). Excellent for those who utilizes the Windows 9x/ME, still unfit for people using Windows 2000/NT/XP.

BootVis 1.3.37.0

We have repeatedly stressed that the developers of Windows XP have put great care in making the fastest possible startup of the operating system.

The development team has released a new Windows XP version of the (English) called BootVis - which we had already had occasion to speak - that allows you to measure the time needed to boot the system and see what is loaded at boot time. This enables them to solve problems and eliminate the unnecessary loading files and drivers in order to further speed up the boot of the system.

MojoPac

It's a program that can do something unique (there is also Ceedo, but charges are not working and not so well), something that seemed inconceivable before it: to create a virtual operating system on a drive external (hard disk or USB pen drive, iPod included) that can run on any computer with this Windows XP (no Windows Vista, at the moment, unfortunately).

In other words, we Mojopac install on a USB stick (8 GB for example), or on an iPod: Now we have a new kind of operating system on which we can install the browser, mail client, programs of any kind (including those which require a driver, simply set the corresponding option), and even games. Working well, and without going to touch the OS. That way, Mojopac might seem just a good virtualization program, but nothing extraordinary.

But now we remove the USB stick from your computer, and let's put it on a different computer: incredible! Mojopac launching the key of the new computer, all programs installed in it will work. It's something that we must see to believe.

We see, however, notes a negative, because if we stopped here it would seem a perfect plan: with a few bugs, apart from the fact that some application does not work perfectly (although usually the results are spectacular), apart from the fact that MojoPac is partly shareware and freeware in part (but up to now is perfectly usable without charge for personal purposes), apart from the fact that Mojopac can not 'see' the partition of the central operating system, but just the opposite, main limitation is that the key is not encrypted and that the loss of the outdoor unit (stick, iPod or hard drive that is), makes it possible for anyone to access our data.

To encrypt the key, which is essential if you plan to save sensitive data should be used more programs like TrueCrypt. In this case, however, the operation is simple, but because it succeeds only with certain versions of TrueCrypt (eg 4.3a, as I rightly pointed out a visitor) and not with others (I could not with 5.1).

Still possible to easily use programs password protection, as the excellent Keepass, or something like Androsa File Protector, but at the cost of always having to unpack everything in the file is protected.

It is understood that an external hard drive with no speed problems but if you use a stick (Pen Drive) USB, the responsiveness of the system will depend entirely on the speed of the stick itself.

Taksi, for interactive 3D applications

It's a good open source program that lets you record video games and other 3D applications. It can save these videos in any format supported by the system (which have the codec), such as DivX, XviD, etc.. It works easily, using the keyboard: just click the buttons (or use the default program) and you can now record, stop recording, make screenshots, etc.
Immediate and effective (if there are video screens, or for interactive 3D applications, because it works only with them).

SoftKey Revealer and GameKey Revealer

There are two simple programs that deal with password recovery applications and games (if GameKey Revealer) that are installed on our system. The password recovery can then be exported in a single Word document.
SoftKey Revealer GameKey and thus become useful when you must change your computer (or just reinstall the operating system), because we all passwords recovery and serial numbers of our programs and our games.
Both are portable (no installation required). If SoftKey Revealer was not able to find some program, I suggest the alternative License Crawler.

Cain & Abel, complex password recovery

It a very advanced program in English and complex password recovery (especially on different networks or connections, but also for those covered by asterisks in our computers) very powerful. The use is not the most immediate, because the large number of menus and options (for every type of password management is a different function).
Findings difficult ... Cain and Abel on the one hand is very powerful (I would say exceptional), and certain things did not equal even the best paid programs (especially when it comes to networks or connections), second in some cases is quite complex to retrieve old forgotten passwords, and it is not immediately (you must dedicate time to understand). Very often, before giving up to find a password, you must stop and study the program, because you have not used the right function.
In other words, a program of great value, but not (too) suitable for the average user.
NOTE: Some antivirus report as computer virus. Obviously not a computer virus, is a program that can recover all types of passwords. If you use it on your computer is perfectly legitimate, if they use others without your knowledge ... here is the antivirus I'll report ...

Ophcrack, Administrator password recovery and Windows User

Ophcrack is a program to passwords recovery for Windows XP users and administrators. While other programs sonoin able to reset the password recovery, Ophcrack can recover, albeit with some limitations. In fact, for the recovery of used tables (tables), only some of which are available free of charge.
As for Windows XP, Ophcrack, with tables available for free, you can recover passwords consist of letters and numbers, but not special characters, while for Vista (which has a password recovery system more robust) the thing is difficult: it can only recover passwords through dictionary changes (unless you buy additional pay tables, but there are limitations).
The speed with which passwords are recovered is impressive, if you have a powerful processor, serve not more than 5 minutes.
Ophcrack can be installed on Windows, by using a bootable CD (if you want to recover the administrator password).

Vmlite XP Mode, Virtualization

And free after registration (no charge) via email.
Vmlite Mode XP is a program that serves the same purpose Microsoft Windows XP mode, but which has a faster emulation. Once he had the advantage of not requiring the presence of hardware emulation processor, but since Microsoft has also removed this requirement for their program, the advantage is Vmlite own speed.
If your processor capacity then virtualization (VT-x or AMD-V), even better, because everything will run even faster.
The image of Windows XP it is done downloading, within VmLite directly from the Microsoft website (image also in Italian, over 400MB) and everything works smoothly.
In theory Vmlite should be able to run XP also images created with competing programs, such as VMware or Parallels, or others, in reality, however, at least I am not able to get an image created with VMware (can some improvement in the future will be done from this point of view).
The purpose of Vmlite XP is likely to be launched (free) for paid product that should be followed (especially interesting one to create an image of Windows XP partition that is used every day, and then use Windows virtualized under 7); now these additional products were not seen, however Vmlite XP Mode continues to perform strongly.
I consider Microsoft's fastest competitor, although it is possible that for prolonged use it may prove a bit 'more reliable (a lot of evidence in this regard should be made to give an opinion of course).
